Earth Month: Aveda Supports Clean Water

Earth Month : Aveda Supports Clean Water

Aveda celebrates April as Earth Month, and their goal is to make “Clean Water a Human Right.”  They plan to raise $180,000 this month for organizations around the world that support the preservation of clean water.  Aveda’s partner, Global Greengrants Funds, supports grass roots environmental groups locally and globally that work to reduce water pollution and waste, as well as to heighten global awareness of other water related issues.  To show your support, you can purchase Aveda Lights the Way to Clean Water 2007 Limited Edition Earth Month Candle. It’s made with soy wax and contains certified organic lavender oil.  The candle goes for $10 and 100% of the proceeds go to Global Greengrants Fund to support clean water world wide!

Quick Tip: Use Essential Oils to Treat Acne at Home

Quick Tip: Use Essential Oils to Treat Acne at HomeTo treat acne at home, here’s what you’ll need: two drops of lavender, four drops of chamomile, one drop of lemon, and ½ tsp of carrot.  According to Beauty and Personality Grooming, here’s a simple method using a homemade solution:  First, clean your skin with a mild soap and warm water, then rinse thoroughly with cold water.  Next, massage the oils you’ve mixed together into the skin (without scrubbing or squeezing the pimples).  Finally, apply a hot compress (made by dipping a towel into hot water) to the areas you have applied the homemade solution.  If your skin does not respond to homemade treatments, it is best that you seek professional help for advice.

Eco-Friendly: C’Watre Saves You and the Earth

Environmentally Friendly: C'Watre Saves You and the EarthC’Watre, an oceanic-based skin care collection, is the result of tightening funds for an environmental research group out of Ashburn, VA.  In order to keep their research afloat, the group developed a skin care line that will beautify you and Mother Earth!  "Our company is still very much involved in working to protect the oceans from environmental and biological pollution," Emily Durham the company’s co-founder told WWD.

Durham, whose background is in environmental research and development (focus on bio-pollution), worked with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to find the best source of sea water to be used in the collection.  She has also implemented a patient-pending process to “purify, micronize and ionize the water” used to develop the new line.

Go Green: Organic Skincare Lines

Go Green: Organic Skincare LinesWith the growing demand for organic skincare lines, some cosmetics companies have devoted their energies to provide the best natural ingredients for all ages and skin types, many of which would also benefit people who suffer from major skin conditions like eczema.  Ella Rabaiotti recently wrote a great article featuring 10 new organic skincare and beauty lines.  She writes, “some cosmetic companies use the term ‘natural’ but still include synthetics in their formulas, there is a new band of ethical entrepreneurs who are proud to shout about what they leave out of their products and take good care about what they put in.”  Here are some of the highlighted lines: Botanicals, Care by Stella McCartney, Feel For This,  Jo Woods Organics, Natura, Pai and Touch My Face.
